Directors

With a shared passion for business, people, and creating exceptional spaces, Derek and Nicky bring a powerful combination of industry expertise, practical experience, and client-focused service to their new commercial fit-out and design venture in Otago.

Derek has spent more than 33 years in the joinery, shopfitting, and construction industries as a qualified carpenter and joiner. Over the past 23 years, he has successfully owned and operated his own construction and signwriting businesses, delivering projects for clients throughout New Zealand. His extensive hands-on experience, practical problem-solving skills, and attention to detail make him a trusted partner for clients looking to bring their vision to life. Derek is also a Licensed Building Practitioner, giving clients confidence that their projects are backed by strong technical knowledge and industry expertise.

Nicky brings a strong commercial and marketing background to the business. Prior to having children, she worked for 11 years as a Marketing and Sales Manager for a local company before transitioning into supporting the growth and development of the family business. With a Commerce degree, and a Diploma in International Marketing, Nicky combines strategic thinking with strong relationship management and communication skills – helping ensure every client experience is professional, seamless, and enjoyable.

What both Derek and Nicky enjoy most about their work is helping clients turn ideas into reality. They love collaborating with people, solving problems, and creating spaces that not only look fantastic but also work practically for the businesses using them. Their approach is professional, down-to-earth, and highly relationship-focused, making them a team clients genuinely enjoy working with.

Based in St Clair, Dunedin, Derek is proudly Dunedin born and bred, while Nicky first moved to Dunedin 29 years ago to study and has called it home ever since. They are passionate about supporting local businesses and are excited to bring fresh energy and expertise to the region.

Outside of work, Derek enjoys golf, following sport and motorsport, and keeping up with global current affairs and economics. He is a loyal supporter of the Otago and Highlanders rugby teams, as well as Manchester United F.C., New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, and Trackhouse Racing.

Nicky enjoys keeping active – largely to keep up with the busy pace of family life and her children’s ever-growing list of activities and interests. She loves spending time with family and friends, staying involved in the local community, and bringing energy and balance to everything she does.

Together, Derek and Nicky are excited to combine their skills, experience, and enthusiasm to help businesses leave a lasting impression.
