Tim Adams Roastery

Tim Adams Roastery and Cafe was a distinctive hospitality venture crafted by Total Fitouts Sunshine Coast South shopfit experts in collaboration with client Tim Adams. Situated in the industrial area of Birtinya on the Sunshine Coast, this commercial hospitality fitout brings together the collaboration of Pedro & Grizz and Tim Adams to create a unique Roastery and cafe experience.

Specialising in crafting premium coffee blends and delectable culinary delights, Tim Adams Roastery and Cafe’s commercial design reflects the essence of Tim Adams’ brand colours. The style exuded a modern industrial vibe, with mood and finishes centred around earthy tones and natural textures.

The commercial fit out encompassed a 50m2 food and drink cafe area, complete with bathroom amenities, as well as a 60m2 staff area. The Tim Adams Roastery and cafe was brought to life through the collaboration of commercial interior designers H&G Designs & Studio Shibui and the commercial shopfit team Total Fitouts Sunshine Coast South.

Commercial designer from Studio Shibui, Danuza said, “The commercial design process for Tim Adams Roastery began with a deep understanding of our client’s stories and needs, recognising that their vision is paramount.”

Danuza continued, “After receiving a detailed brief, we developed ideas for the general layout that would suit our client’s expectations and requirements.”

Hailey, commercial designer from H&G Designs added, “Concept designs and 3D visualisations were then created for presentation, followed by the approval of concepts and material choices, leading to the development of construction documentation.”

Hailey continued, “This process also included the specification and procurement of loose furniture, defect reporting, and final styling touches. The entire design process spanned almost 1.5 years, incorporating the presentation of two different designs to accommodate budget constraints.”

Danuza expressed, “A favourite aspect of the space for us (Hailey and I) is the Espresso Bar, where the remarkable details and features, such as the movement of natural stone veins and beautiful consistency of green tones, truly shine.”

Hailey added, “Unique and general commercial design features of the space include Apple Green Natural Stone, custom-made furniture and features, handmade Japanese tiles and light fittings, as well as commissioned artwork, all contributing to the distinctive ambience of Tim Adams Roastery.”

Throughout the commercial fit out, handmade ceramic wall sconces, brushed copper fixtures and fittings, and accents of beautiful greens were added, contributing to the ambience.

The commercial hospitality fitout encountered challenges such as material lead times and quality control issues. Delays in sourcing high-end products, such as a basin from Western Australia, required meticulous attention to detail and proactive measures to ensure quality standards were met.

Despite these challenges, the project timeline experienced slight delays, but the end result was well worth the wait! Detailed finishes, including intricate tiling and a custom curved bulkhead, showcased the dedication to craftsmanship by the Total Fitouts Sunshine Coast South team and collaborative design excellence.

Throughout the process, open communication with the client, Tim Adams and Pedro & Grizz was maintained, resulting in a highly satisfied outcome. The journey to completion demonstrated resilience and commitment to delivering a space that exceeded expectations, crafting an upscale roastery and cafe that adhered to brand standards and boasted an aesthetic but functional appearance.
