Gabriel Barbers HQ, located in Penrith NSW, contacted Peter Zafis and the Total Fitouts Surry Hills team to help them bring their antiquated barber meets modern man cave commercial fit out to life.
Owner Slewa Gabriel tasked the team with building a multi-functioning man space including split-level barber workspaces, built in bar to serve refreshments and a man-sized playroom including sports memorabilia and a slate pool table.
The wellness and beauty fitout started life as a bare retail space on the main road, within a retail shopping centre. The scope included polishing the concrete floor, installing feature mirrors, hand crafting bespoke seating and neon signage. The owner wanted to create a unpretentious man space that would appeal to today’s modern man. They wanted to create a fitout that their clients would want to escape to, a place they could be manly, think a Haley Davidson on the ceiling, leather jackets, beards and tattoos, and at the same time be able to indulge in a spot of pampering too, think old school barber services alongside laser hair removal and facials.
Interior Designer Kellie Quach says, “Owner Slewa had a very clear vision of the wellness and beauty fit out he desired. He wanted us to create a fun man space where old fashioned barbering merges with modern wellness and manscaping services. The style was leather, beards and tattoos alongside fun, comfort and personal servicing. Neon signage, stickmen art murals, backlit mirrors and clever lighting created a memorable yet functional space.”

Aesthetically, a modern high end industrial feel was created featuring brown leather custom seating, polished concrete flooring, black marble countertops, matt black assents, gunmetal and bronze metal finishes throughout. A suspended motorcycle and illuminated gold signage adds unique and decorative features.
Kellie says, “The client was very clear about the style and vision of the Gabriel Barbers brand, and we worked closely with them to bring their concept to life. They had many functional and practical design requirements including 10 individual barber chairs and a bespoke bar for serving refreshments. Steel pendants, mesh features, wooden barrels, pool table and sports memorabilia were installed to pull the whole metrosexual meets antiquated barber concept together.”
Peter, Kellie and the Total Fitouts Surry Hills team expertly managed the construct and build project, delivering bespoke touches, custom timber joinery, mood lighting and steel finishes. The result another memorable wellness and beauty fit out for the Total Fitouts local team of fit out professionals.
