Perth’s premier iconic Japanese Bar.
This stylish and sophisticated hospitality fit out, located in QV1 Plaza, George’s Terrace, Perth, WA, was brought to life by Stuart Organ and the Total Fitouts Perth team.
Owners of Nippon Bar and Kitchen, a Japanese-style Bar or Izakaya, wanted to create a “fun, rowdy place to drink the best of what Japan has to offer, along with delicious Japanese Tapas and, most importantly, a friendly, fun, comfortable, relaxing, unique place to hang out with your company.” The final hospitality fitout however delivers so much more. A “rowdy” time may occur once Japanese drinks are enjoyed, but the tasteful, memorable space offers guests so much more than a ‘fun, rowdy’ experience. The atmospheric fitout is timeless, classical, and simply beautiful.
Stuart worked closely with the owner to design and build the ethereal vision. The scope included handcrafting a feature bar area, building an alfresco area (featuring 3 raised piers which acts as a walk through), installing bespoke booth seating, creating intimate dining spaces, building a full commercial kitchen, and fitting designer bathroom facilities. The centre piece for the exquisite space was the installation of a huge Japanese blossom tree which pays homage to the businesses Japanese roots whilst creating an unforgettable feature.

Stuart says, “The stylish owner wanted to breathe life into the hospitality space and create an exciting and intoxicating fit out with a truly traditional Japanese feel. Feature pendant lighting, exquisite geometric tiles, upholstered bespoke seating, charred black wooden screens and green velvet accents were installed throughout to achieve the desired result.”
Stuart says, “I wanted to build an eatery that I want to eat at for the rest of my life'”
Total Fitouts worked with the owner to fit out multiple spaces including a full commercial kitchen, cool rooms and extensive, yet intimate, seating areas. Stuart and the fit out team were tasked with interpreting the client’s design and transforming the empty shell into a memorable, sophisticated, hospitality fit out.
Back of house a full commercial kitchen was installed featuring ample stainless steel work benches, large gas top cooktops, fridges, shelving, storage and cool room. Brass lighting, traditional flags, led strips and bespoke shelving were added to add a level of functionality and Japanese style. Designer bathroom facilities were installed featuring hexagonal tiles and backlit oval mirrors were selected to create real wow factor to a sometimes forgot about powder room.
Front of house (FOH), a variety of different seating options and areas were crafted using upholstered seating and complementary wooden chairs and tables.
Stuart says “Alongside the installation of the centre piece blossom tree, calming water feature, clever lighting and feature pendants were used throughout to create mood, atmosphere and ambience. Led strip lighting and bespoke hardwood shelving were cleverly fitted to highlight beautiful Japanese products and delicacies and contrasting tiles and breeze blocks were chosen to create texture and add earthy undertones.”
Timeless hardwood flooring, handcrafted wooden features, bespoke metal seating, stone gabion around windows, charred black wood slats, velvet upholstery and verdant fabrics cemented the eclectic, traditional eatery.
Stuart and the Total Fitouts Perth team expertly managed the complete construct and build project, delivering bespoke finishes, custom timber joinery and timber finishes. The result another memorable hospitality fit outa and one memorable, fun, bar, dining experience.
