Recently we had the pleasure of welcoming a new team member to the Bay of Plenty branch! He’s creative, he’s sharp and his name is Eugene Noel – the newly appointed co-director at Total Fitouts Bay of Plenty.
Eugene’s work history, as well as being impressive, is also long. A carpenter by trade, Eugene comes to us from the rolling hills of Northampton, England with extensive business and shop fitting experience. It was in the early 90’s that Eugene began work as a shop fitter in England; working with big name clients such as Sears, Nike, and Claire’s Accessories. By 2000, Eugene took his experience and set up his own successful shop fitting bizo, maintaining a high calibre of client, namely, Blacks Outdoor Retail, Freespirit, H. Samuels Jewellers and Selfridges London.
In 2005 Eugene and his family emigrated to New Zealand, where Eugene spent his first year working as a builder and from there fell into a business partnership, forming a construction company working predominantly on commercial and insurance jobs.
In a series of somewhat serendipitous events, Eugene decided it was time to get back into shop fitting and soon thereafter was introduced to Total Fitouts’ Bay of Plenty Director, Jason Horn. With a set of wonderfully complimentary backgrounds, Eugene and Jason quickly saw the advantage in joining forces. “Apart from being my own boss I wanted to work with someone likeminded and who has the same goals.”
Eugene (much like Jason), is focused on adding value to the customer experience, saying
“clients will always get unbeatable attention to detail and will recognise the value in our ability to interpret and create the client’s vision – whether it starts with a sketch on a napkin or fully drawn plans.”
When it comes to life and leisure, Eugene admits he’s got it bad for travel, “Yes a definite traveller, both work and pleasure. Shop fitting has taken me across Europe and to the Caribbean. I’ve been around the world backpacking, made it to Everest Base camp trek and now to NZ!” After all of that, his favourite place? Thailand.
Getting to Eugene’s humble home life, we can tell you his life is made exceptionally bright by a few wonderful humans; his lovely partner Maxine, son Mani (13yo) and daughter Romy (10yo).
Full of life, energy and with a love for adventure, Eugene says if he had one day left on earth, to the snow he would go with the whole family and enjoy a lodge in the French Alps. When he’s not working you’ll find him playing football, snowboarding, watching the kids surf or helping to coach the local junior football team – sounds like he’s found the perfect setting for a happy and active life in Bay of Plenty!
